Last spring I had the privilege of working with Lori from Crystal Orchid Weddings and Events to create a glamorous multicultural wedding. The rich bright colors of the wedding were in abundance! …. and the bright coloured Dendrobium orchids were a highlight.
The ceremony, held at the College Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lacombe was beautiful. The bride’s father generously built a stunning mandap, and then we added the florals! Eighty feet of strung blue dendrobium orchid garland! WOW! The look was amazing!
We continued the exotic feel throughout the church with more orchids placed as aisle markers.
The bridal party bouquets were a mass of blue dendrobium accented by white calla lilies and stephanotis. I loved the deep blue or the orchids packed so tightly together. The contrast with the bridesmaid’s pink saris was beautiful!
And then there was the reception…. held at the Sheraton Hotel in Red Deer, the simple black and white table linens were accented with brightly lit centrepieces. Two styles of table allowed for two styles of centrepiece. Bright fuchsia dendrobium orchids filled a round fishbowl with an accent of blue flat wire on the rectangular tables. The round tables had tall pilsner vases filled with blue dendrobium and created a variance of height in the room.
