We have a busy week coming up with a few weddings, working on our packages AND With This Ring coming up on Sunday. We always have a ton of fun with bridal galas getting to play around and let our creativity run wild, but we have noticed that for some people they can be overwhelming. There are lots of vendors, people, ideas and it can be a bit much if you don’t have a bit of a game plan going in. We want brides to be able to get the most out of going to a gala so today we are going to share a few tips to make your trip to a bridal gala successful!
DECIDE YOUR OBJECTIVE
What do you want to get out of going to the bridal gala? Maybe you are just newly engaged and are looking for rough ideas to get started planning or want to get a chance to meet some of the wedding professionals to see who you like. Maybe you are further along in your planning and only need to secure a few more vendors (like a florist!) and check out some jewellery. Maybe you aren’t even engaged yet, but just want to kill an afternoon looking at pretty things, that is okay too! Keep in mind what you are wanting for YOUR wedding, there will be tons of pretty things at the bridal gala, and there are literally millions of pretty things that you COULD do for your wedding. However you are going to want to keep your wedding cohesive with an overall look and style that is consistent. It can be easy getting distracted by all the gorgeous ideas from the bridal gala, but try to stay focused. Figuring out what it is you want to get out of the bridal gala is the biggest tip to help keep you on track and get the most out of your time there.
MAKE A GAME PLAN
Now that you know what you want to do while you are there, it is good to make up a bit of a game plan on how to make it happen. If you are just needing a couple more vendors, most galas keep a list online of the vendors attending so you can figure out who it is you are going to want to find when you get there. Getting the chance to meet with the vendors is a great opportunity to see if they are a good fit for you. If you are looking for specific vendors you may want to write a short list of questions you will want to ask them to make sure you don’t forget anything.
BRING A CAMERA
Especially for those brides who are in initial stages of planning and just looking for rough ideas, bring a camera to snap pictures of the things that catch your eye. There are a lot of things going on at the gala so it can be really easy to forget stuff when you get home. By taking a few pictures a long the way you can always go back to the ideas you like and see if they could work for your big day. You may want to also try to get the businesses logo included in the picture so that you also remember who can make it happen for you.
BRING A HELPER
At your bridal shower you have that awesome helpful friend that records who gave you what gift to make writing thank you cards easier for you, it is great to have a special helper for the bridal gala too. We see a lot of brides just go around collecting brochures and business cards and throwing them in their bag, but are you actually going to look through those business cards afterwards and remember who did what and who you liked? It can be really great to have your mom, best friend, MIL or someone assigned the role of helper, there are a number of things they can do for you. They can keep a smaller bag for the business cards of the business that you REALLY liked. They can be the picture taker for the pretty ideas. They can keep a small notebook to jot down ideas, information you get from vendors, the answers to those questions you were asking vendors, etc. This way when you get home afterwards, instead of having a giant bag of random business cards from EVERYONE at the show, you bring home a little less – but what you take home is USEFUL information
I don’t mean to make it sound like it has to be this strict homework assignment to go, you can still have lots of fun! You can still get really excited by what the options are, and have a fun day sipping on coffee looking at pretty things with your bridesmaids. It is really fun to think about how amazing your own special day will be, and that is the goal!
I hope that these tips are of help to you, and if you have any tips of your own please share in the comments! We really are pumped for the gala, we have some fun ideas in mind and will be booking appointments for consultations if you have been meaning to do that. Lots of brides think flowers can wait until just a few months before the wedding, but we have already been booking weddings for 2016 and have some weekends in July and August that are filling up quickly. See you Sunday!
