HOLLY + SCOTT’S REFINED BOHO WEDDING
I have a super gorgeous wedding to share today, Holly and Scott’s refined boho wedding. This wedding was beautifully coordinated for a look that was the PERFECT combo of being elegant and romantic with the bohemian accents full of texture from feathered pampas grass, bleached bracken fern and ruscus and dried palms. The colour palette was a soft and serene combination of sage greens, blush pinks and cream.
Holly is so pretty, and as a bride went for a super classy and elegant look. Her timeless soft, wavy curls and understated make up are flawless! I also loved her dress with the gentle lines, sweeping cap sleeve and the slit, which added a little playfulness.
Her bouquet is exquisite!! Rather than your typical bouquet with flowers equally dispersed throughout, this style was designed with the flowers more in groupings, for a strong visual effect. We used ‘Playa Blanca’ roses, ‘Quicksand’ roses, white phalaenopsis orchids, natural pampas grass, bleached bracken fern, bleached ruscus, bunny tail grass, silver dollar eucalyptus, cinerea eucalyptus and olive branches. I love the juxtaposition of the luxurious orchids with the earthy grasses, it created a magically balanced bouquet!
All of the bridesmaids looked divine as well, of course. The gowns were a mash up of different styles in Sienna Rose coloured satin. That colour is absolutely magnificent and was very complimentary to all of the girls! Their bouquets were a slightly smaller version of Holly’s which contrasted beautifully against their dresses!
Scott and his groomsmen looked dashing as well sporting classic black suits. For them we designed “mini bouquet” boutonnieres to match the ladies. These boutonnieres featured white spray roses, olive branches, bunny tail and bleached bracken fern.
CEREMONY
Holly and Scott’s ceremony was phenomenal! Hilltop has several outdoor ceremony locations available, and they opted for the one near the pond with the fountain which is so pretty and tranquil.
The start of the aisle was marked by two wooden barrels with floral arrangements on them to welcome guests as they arrived. One of the barrels also had a sign in honour of loved ones no longer with them who they were thinking of on their special day, along with a candle. It is so hard when there are special loved ones you are unable to have with you on your day, and having a little tribute is a beautiful way to make space for them.
The end of the aisle was the archway, and she was glorious! It was overflowing with fluffy pampas grass, roses, orchids, bleached ruscus and bracken fern, olive branch, eucalyptus, dried palms (sun palm and anahaw palm). So, so pretty and very much matching the aesthetic of the wedding. It looked so lavish and romantic, and it framed Holly and Scott perfectly. After the ceremony, we were able to disassemble the floral pieces and make use of them at the reception as large arrangements, adding to the décor.
While impossible to compete with the archway, honourable mention to the striking floral arrangements at the end of the aisle as well. They were made to match the archway, so naturally they looked stunning.
Last, but certainly not least, I can’t leave without highlighting the adorable flower girls. They wore the sweetest crowns made of olive branches and gunni eucalyptus. Along with their wispy curls it was a cuteness overload! They were perfect little prelude, hinting at the beauty to come when Holly would make her grand entrance.
RECEPTION
Hilltop is such a lovely venue for receptions. While there was definitely assistance from the keen eye and hardworking team of Engaged by Darcie– the natural surroundings of the Hilltop tent on beautiful summer days is nothing short of magical. All the radiant natural light, as well as the lush greens and charming landscapes visible throughout the tent is delightful.
We enhanced this natural beauty by adding the Calyx Treatment to the chandeliers. We used a combination of pampas grass, ruscus and eucalyptus for Holly and Scott’s reception, adding colour, boho vibes and visual interest to the room.
Additionally, we had a number of floral accents pieces – the base of the welcome sign, at the top of the seating chart, the guest book table, as well as some small pieces at the cake table. Having these natural elements incorporated throughout the room really levels up the beauty, in my humble opinion.
The guest tables looked fabulous, again, a little help from Engaged by Darcie. I love the frosted glass table numbers, the subtle texture of the linen napkins, and the splashes of gold. The little details really captured the elegant, refined look while the flowers added some of the wild, boho feel. Our centrepieces complimented the classic beauty of the roses with the rich textures of the pampas grass, bleached ruscus and bracken fern, dried palms, olive branches and eucalyptus.
The head table looked amazing. We used the large aisle arrangements as well as the pieces from the archway to feature the head table, without being in the way for the bridal party or the guests. Instead, clusters of sand coloured pillar candles at varying heights were displayed down the length of the table as well as the floor, pulling the look all together and adding ambience.
