Tyller + Carter’s Fairy-tale Banff Springs Wedding
Today I have a truly stunning wedding to share with you all, Tyller and Carter’s fairy-tale Banff Springs wedding. This wedding is actually a couple years old now, but we had to keep it under wraps until it was published! We are so excited to finally share it, as it seriously gorgeous.
Tyller + Carter had originally planned on tying the knot in 2019, when the pandemic hit, they postponed until they could have the wedding of their dreams! I think it is safe to say they achieved their goal – the big day felt like a storybook romance. Having a castle for a wedding venue was a pretty good start, which was downright enchanting with lush arrangements and oversized floral instalments.
Our bride, Tyller, looked like a modern-day princess. She is a natural beauty and kept her make up minimal for a very clean, chic look. I LOVED her dress, a very simple silhouette with a sweetheart neckline and some beading. The sheer mesh fabric provided subtle coverage and added elegance with the satin cuffs on the sleeves. The dress actually was Tyller’s mom’s dress, with minimal alterations, which added such a sweet, sentimental element to the day.
For her bouquet, we went with a petite natural styled posy hand tied bouquet. It was full of delicate blooms of astilbe, forget me nots, lily of the valley, sweet pea and myrtle. The sweet blooms created a bouquet with lots of depth and rich texture and complimented the elegance of her gown beautifully. We finished off the bouquet with a classic, white silk stem wrap. Tyller wanted a family charm included which we carefully attached to the top of the stem wrap. It makes bouquets extra-special when brides incorporate little personal touches to their bouquets!
CEREMONY
The prestigious space of Mount Stephen Hall was made absolutely breathtaking with lush, overflowing arrangements and a monumental floral archway! The bride was going for a “luxurious Italian villa” vibe and she successfully achieved it with the gorgeous character of the Banff Springs Hotel and organic style of the floral designs.
The floral archway was exquisite! The size alone created drama and added to the romantic feel of the wedding. Full of rich greens from the podocarpus nagi, Italian ruscus and eucalyptus used as foliage. The flowers were white, beige, taupe and sandstone tones with big, beautiful hydrangea, lisianthus and a variety of roses (playa blanca, toffee, cappuccino and sahara – one of my favs!). It is a such a classic floral look to add to the fairy-tale charm of this ceremony.
There was another large, asymmetrical floral feature framing the archway where Tyller and her dad entered the hall for the ceremony. I love how it beautifully accented the gentle curves of the arch. This floral instalment used the same flowers as the big archway, sans hydrangea. The natural style of the design looked like a gorgeous overgrown rose bush climbing up the side of a building. Perfection!
The arrangements at the piano kept with this look, as though it was an overflowing flowering plant that grew over the side and pooled down at the floor. So lavish! I imagine the performance from a pianist and stringed quartet for their intimate ceremony must have been heavenly!
Finally, the balconies bordering the hall were all adorned with fabulous arrangements of trailing foliage. Some parts gracefully cascading down, and other parts designed to look like vining pieces growing up the railing. These arrangements had such a free flowing and organic feel to them that definitely captured the villa feeling.
RECEPTION
The reception was equally magical! The brilliant team from Engaged by Darcie assisted in the thoughtfully planned out details as well as doing the set up.
The guest tables were beautifully styled with a classic, elegant look. Ivory table linens with individual lisianthus blooms at each setting, white dishes and napkins, gold accents with the flatware and candlestick holders, long ivory tapered candle, crystal glassware and fabulous floral centrepieces!
The centrepieces were designed into simple ivory compote containers and were overflowing with rich, viney foliage, mocha lisianthus, white ranunculus, sweet peas, orlaya, pieris and queen anne’s lace. They were the perfect combination of a natural, earthy style and a classic, romantic arrangement.
Tyller and Carter opted for a sweetheart table at the reception. A low, wide fresh floral arrangement curved around the front of the table, made to match the centrepieces on the guest tables. The asymmetrical floral designs that had previously marked the entrance at the ceremony were moved to the sweetheart table, to frame the happy couple.
The stunning, chonky archway stayed where it was, and became the backdrop for the cake table. Their traditional three-tiered wedding cake accented with sweet ruffled icing trim was gorgeous. To compliment the big, fluffy archway, we also had a few simple white budvases with a mixture of pretty blooms.
Lastly, there were a few additional large arrangements made to match the rest of the florals to highlight a few areas including the welcoming table, seating chart, table of favours (the little dog cookies are adorable!) as well as the bar.
All in all, a truly unforgettable wedding! It was such a privilege to be a part of such an extraordinary wedding! I hope you all loved it as much as we did, let us know your favourite detail in the comments!
