A refined palette of ivory, white, green and accented with gold and deep chocolate tones set the stage for this elegant Alberta wedding. Throughout the day, crisp white florals created a striking contrast against Archway Manor’s limestone inspired architecture and the surrounding forest landscape. Consequently, every design choice felt purposeful, allowing texture, shape, and movement to take centre stage.
The bride embraced timeless simplicity in a beautiful draped gown featuring delicate straps and a softly folded neckline. Her dark waves framed expressive eyes creating a look that looked polished and effortless. Meanwhile, her bouquet introduced subtle layers of texture through white anemones, scabiosa, eryngium, orlaya, white tweedia, cedar and olive branch. The combination balanced softness with structure, echoing the natural surroundings while maintaining a refined aesthetic.
In addition, the wedding party brought cohesion without feeling overly matched. The attendants carried bouquets that mirrored the bride’s design, creating continuity throughout the portraits. The women wore sleek espresso gowns with fluid silhouettes, while the men complemented the palette in coordinating dark suiting. Together the mix of attendants felt contemporary, welcoming, and authentically representative of the bride’s closest relationships.
The groom’s attire reflected the same understated approach. His tailored suit paired seamlessly with a boutonnière featuring white anemone, airy tweedia and textured eryngium. Likewise, the groomsmen wore coordinating floral accents that tied the entire wedding party together.
Against a backdrop of grand architecture and quiet woodland paths, and surrounded by their favourite people, they stepped into marriage with a sense of calm confidence and enduring connection.
CEREMONY
Nestled a little outside Red Deer, Alberta, Archway Manor offers a ceremony setting that feels intimate and expansive. Towering evergreens surround the outdoor ceremony deck, creating a natural backdrop that requires little embellishment. Instead of competing with the landscape, Calyx Floral Design worked alongside it, bringing softness, texture, and movement to the space while allowing the forest to remain a grounding focal point.
Rather than a traditional floral arch, the couple chose a collection of elevated pillar arrangements to frame their vows. This approach created visual impact without obstructing sightline or hiding the beauty of the venue’s woodland surroundings. The varying pedestal heights introduced dimension, while ground level florals softened the structure and connected the designs to ceremony platform.
The floral palette remained intentionally refined. White anemones provided striking focal blooms, their dark centres adding contrast against layers of ivory and cream flowers. Meanwhile, ranunculus contributed delicate petal texture, lisianthus added airy movement throughout the arrangements. Orlaya and Queen Anne’s lace introduced a meadow inspired quality that felt organic. Scabiosa added subtle detail and texture, creating depth to the designs.
Together the flowers formed sculptural arrangements that felt fresh, contemporary, and perfectly suited to the setting. The clean white vessels echoed the modern aesthetic of the day while allowing the florals to take the centre stage. As sunlight filtered through the trees, the blooms seemed to glow against the darker forest backdrop, drawing every eye toward the radiant couple.
Surrounded by towering pines and the people who mattered most, they exchanged vows in a setting that felt quietly sacred.
RECEPTION
Following their forest ceremony, guests gathered inside Archway Manor’s bright and elegant reception hall. The venue’s soaring ceilings, crystal chandeliers, arched architectural details, and soft neutral palette creates an atmosphere that is both refined and welcoming. Natural light poured through the large windows during cocktail hour before giving way to the warm glow of candlelight through the evening. The expansive room provided an airy backdrop that allowed every carefully chosen detail to shine without feeling crowded or over designed.
The reception styling embraced a monochromatic palette of ivory, white, and soft greenery, creating a look that felt timeless and sophisticated. Guest tables featured lush, garden inspired centrepieces filled with white anemones, ranunculus, lisianthus, Queen Anne’s lace and delicate textural blooms. The floral designs incorporated layered movement and negative space, allowing each flower variety to contribute its own character. Gold taper candlesticks added contrast and created a soft glow that carried throughout the room. Amber toned charger plates and gold flatware introduced subtle richness without distracting from the floral palette.
At the sweetheart table, the floral design became even more immersive. A generous meadow style installation spilled across the floor, transforming the front of the table into a living garden. Layers of white blooms mingled with airy botanicals and textured foliage, creating depth and movement from every angle. Above, minimalist floral accents and candlelight kept the tabletop feeling refined while allowing the ground installation to remain the focal point. The design carried the naturalistic style established during the ceremony while bringing a greater sense of abundance to the reception space.
As evening settled over Archway Manor, candlelight and flowers transformed the room into an intimate setting for celebration, conversation, and the beginning of married life together.
