Soft colour met intentional contrast, creating a refined garden inspired atmosphere with a modern edge. The palette pulled from the warmest end of a summer garden: blush pinks, coral, peach, apricot, and butter yellow layered together boldly. The overall aesthetic felt airy, yet composed, balancing organic movement with curated restraint.
Sydney herself was arresting. Her fitted lace gown featured intricate embroidery and beading that caught the light with subtle dimension. She wore detachable sleeves – sheer with a delicate floral pattern – added an architectural quality, framing her shoulders beautifully. Her hair swept up softly, allowing her features to remain the focal point. A bouquet of garden roses, dahlias, ranunculus, sweet peas, orlaya and stock spilled generously. Peach, coral, blush and yellow tumbled together, anchored by long trailing silk ribbons that moved with her.
Her bridesmaids stood alongside her in tonal neutrals, each look varied yet cohesive. The dresses complemented one another without competing, creating a layered visual story. Their bouquets echoed the bride’s, scaled down yet equally thoughtful. The same warm palette incorporating dahlias, carnations, stock, ranunculus and airy orlaya for texture tied with the same blush silk ribbon.
The groom wore a tailored black suit, paired with a refined pocket square styled boutonniere. Lisianthus, ranunculus and spray rose create a compact yet expressive detail that rewarded a closer look. His groomsmen followed in coordination black suits with ivory ties. Together they created a sense of calm confidence that anchored the day. Every detail reflected a couple fully present in their celebration.
CEREMONY
The outdoor ceremony at Tangled Roots in Edmonton, AB unfolded across a wide, manicured lawn framed b a dense line of mature poplar and spruce trees. The natural backdrop carried its own quiet grandeur and the floral design leaned into it fully.
Guests arrived to a welcome sign on a draped canvas panel with the couple’s name rendered in tonal script suspended from a gold metal frame. A ground level arrangement of soft pink hydrangea, garden roses, and eucalyptus pooled around the frame’s base, with the added wit of mirrored disco balls nestled into the blooms. It set the tone immediately – a little unexpected and genuinely joyful.
White fringed market umbrellas lined both sides of the white aisle runner, casting soft pools of shade over the seated guests. At the entrance to the aisle, two generous floral arrangements anchored the start of the walk – loose and abundant, in the same warm coral, pink, peach and yellow palette carried throughout the day.
The ceremony arch was the centrepiece of it all. Calyx Floral Design constructed a low arch in a deliberate ombre beginning in soft ivory and blush on one side, moving through peach and apricot toward deep coral and orange on the other with pops of butter yellow lifting the arrangement at it’s peak. Dahlias, garden roses, ranunculus, hydrangea gerbera daisies, and carnations built the volume, while sweet peas and orlaya aded the wispy, unscripted edges that kept the design from feeling overworked.
As the couple stood framed within the florals, the design felt both expansive and intimate. Every design element supported the moment with colour, joy and whimsy creating a ceremony full of connection, emotion and presence.
RECEPTION
The reception moved indoors to Tangled Roots’ interior space – a venue with genuine character. Dark wood, exposed industrial elements, and dramatic pendant lighting create a moody, atmospheric base. Blush up lighting along the draped walls softened the room considerably, and the overall effect was warm and immersive without losing the venue’s natural edge.
Guests encountered the seating chart first: a large installation composed of layered pastel panels with a modern, graphic quality. Two built in floral boxes at the base overflowed with dahlias, gerbera daisies, garden roses, ranunculus and stock in the warm spectrum of the day. The design was both practical in nature as well as being a strong design element to capture their guest’s attention before entering the main space.
The gift table carried smaller bud vases of garden inspired blooms like roses, ranunculus, stock and gerbera daisies paired with curated objects, creating a composed and inviting vignette.
The head table sat at the far end of the room, framed by the full floral moon arch relocated from the ceremony. Its ombre sweep of coral, peach, pink and yellow now glowing against the blunt lit draping behind it.
Guest tables featured a mix of approaches. Round tables held low centrepieces with soft, garden inspired centrepieces, while rectangular tables introduced ikebana inspired arrangements. These designs emphasized line, space and movement, using fewer stems with greater intention.
Layered place settings with soft, patterned linens completed the tables capes. Each detail felt considered, contributing to a dynamic, yet cohesive environment. As the evening unfolded the space encouraged connection, conversation, and ease, reflecting a celebration rooted in presence.
