Moody Styled Shoot

I love doing stylized photoshoots!  SOOOO MUCH!  I really love every aspect, starting with a simple concept over lunch with my good friend Lindsay Nickel from Lindsay Nickel Photography , an incredible collaboration between local vendors began. The process is amazing and the team that came together to create this vision really was incredible, everything just fell into place.

We headed out to Canyon Ski Resort and found the perfect spot to shoot (If you haven’t been there in the off season, go check it out, this place is so naturally beautiful!)  The florals were designed to showcase the rich deep and moody tones available in late fall.  From the draping navy privet berries to the deep green and brown magnolia leaves, I think we executed that perfectly.  Our table design featured a gorgeous rustic wood table from  Something Borrowed Vintage Decor which we accented by perfectly matching chairs and place settings from  Special Event Rentals.  I LOVE metallics and gold just seemed fitting to bring into this colour scheme to add richness and texture (did you notice the gorgeous hand-lettering on the magnolia leaves???)  Paper Blush created a matching menu and invitation suite that pulled all of these elements together.

We couldn’t decide on one particular style of bouquet to match the gorgeous blush dress from Novia Mia Bridal so we made two!  One loose and natural with a really free form feel and the other smaller, more compact and just loaded with texture.  (I still don’t know which one is my favourite!)

Dressed in simple navy suit from Black Knight Tuxedos, Phillip and Sarah (a couple whose wedding we had designed the flowers for this past summer) were amazing models!  We laughed sooo much during this shoot!!  They braved the chilly weather without one complaint.  Sarah was well taken care of by Nicole of Hair by Nicole and Marjona of Zebo Makeup who did an incredible job of bringing our dark smokey vision to life.  Her hairpieces was provided by Jana of Lovespun Creations.

The cakes (yep, there were 4 of them!!)  were pure magic, displayed on two wine barrels with florals tucked all around, the black fondant and hand painted floral details were perfect. Sugar By Tracy you knocked it out of the park!

We knew we wanted to have our work publish (because really, who doesn’t) and decided that Junebug weddings was the place, they agreed and have used the images from this shoot at least 4 times in various publications!  (yay!!)

Take a look at some of my favourite photos from this amazing styled photoshoot!
