Tin Roof Styled Winter Wedding
We are only a few weeks away from Christmas already, and we have a gorgeous winter wedding styled shoot to help get you in the spirit! While our cold Albertan winters can scare some couples away from having a winter wedding, we love them! There are SO many possibilities for fun details to create a cozy, swoon worthy event!
Today’s styled shoot has a white, green and black colour palette. It features some really cool floral details including a triangle arch, a wreath wall, and a huge, mind blowing suspended centrepiece. A lot of the floral décor includes a beautiful assortment of winter greens, which not only add lush green colour – but also adds a FABULOUS smell, which creates a truly lovely sensory experience.
Our model bride looks radiant, with soft romantic curls in a low ponytail and subtle make up enhancing her natural beauty. And her dress! We love Melissa over at Hello Beautiful and this dress she provided is stunning. The deep (but tasteful) V cut front, with gorgeous detail from the floral lace on the bodice and lastly the amazing, elegant detachable sleeves. Perfection!
For this wintery bridal bouquet, we went for an all-white, monochromatic look. We kept a looser, organic inspired design style using hellebores, allium, frill tulips, clematis and lilac branches. These blooms are a bit on the smaller side, creating a lovely texture. The bouquet was finished off with simple black stem wrap, and pretty trailing ribbons.
The model groom was equally handsome with a crisp, slim cut black suit and a little pop of colour with his dark green tie. We kept his boutonniere simple, with a beautiful hellebore bloom, a cluster of the white allium and a little foliage to complete the look. A nice, simple pairing to the bridal bouquet!
CEREMONY
The ceremony set up for this shoot was divine! Tin Roof Event Centre was the venue, and it is gorgeous for an indoor ceremony! All those big, beautiful windows letting in tons of natural light!! Along with the stunning lighting, their space has a minimalist design, with lots of crisp white keeping our design options very open. The white looked lovely with the lush greens, creating a very fresh feeling look. With accents of black, gold and some brown the colour palette had a contemporary, winter look.
Both sides of the aisle were lined full pine boughs. Not only is pine a striking shade of green, it is a fragrant winter green as well. As I mentioned above, getting to enjoy the smell of fresh winter greens is absolutely lovely and it really does add a sensory experience for your guests. Tucked in amongst the pine were cylinder vases with either pillar candles or floating candles.
At the end of the aisle, we created a display of several Christmas trees at varying heights. Keeping with this look, we also dressed up a triangle arch. Typically, when triangular arches are used, there is a spray/cluster of flowers designed on one or both sides of the triangle, but higher up closer to the peak. We focused more on the base of the triangle, making a big foundation of heavenly winter greens and branches. The greens worked their way up the triangle, tapering as they went, making it appear as though they were all growing up out of the floor. This style reminds me of a ground arch, which are a trending style at the moment.
RECEPTION
Is it even a winter wedding if you don’t have a hot chocolate bar!? I love this adorable set up, yummy warm beverages are the perfect thing to stay cozy during the colder months. They had a cute display of hot chocolate fixings in decorative jars and we added a little frosting of greens and pinecones to elevate the design.
We also created a space that was both pretty and cozy – perfect for a photobooth backdrop. We took simple Christmas green wreaths and filled them in with fluffy pine. The wreaths weren’t perfectly even, some floofier than others, some with black ribbon, some with wild little branches stinking out a way for a more organic, whimsical look. They were also secured onto the wall in an asymmetrical design along with a black, metal “crazy in love” sign.
A luxurious ivory settee was set up for people to cuddle up on. The design carried all the way down to the floor where we had a mini display on both sides of the settee with pine, lanterns, candles and decorative trees. So adorable, and I think really impressive the visual impact you get from a relatively simple design!
The tables were styled BEAUTIFULLY! The wood tables are gorgeous, and I LOVE the black plates. Between the plates was a sheer green napkin, and on top a sprig of juniper underneath a clear acrylic menu card. We ran pine across the length of the table with dark tapered candles.
The real showstopper was the magnificent centrepiece!! It was SUSPENDED above the table in a lavish oblong style overflowing with lushious greens, branches and pinecones. For flowers we coordinated with the bridal bouquet using hellebores, frill tulips, clematis, allium, scabiosa and daffodils. An absolutely breathtaking, magical design for this winter wonderland.
