As we mentioned in our last post, How to Hold a Bouquet, we spent this last Sunday at Engaged Bridal Gala. It was a pretty exciting day for us, we had so much fun designing everything, we were over the moon about our new floral table, and we also got to show off our new branding! There was a fashion show, Your Wedding Place had a pretty sweet sale going on and I hope that all the brides had a good time! If you did miss us, have no worry. We will also be at With This Ring Bridal Gala on September 27th at the Westerner with tons of floral goodies to check out. I won’t spend too much time blabbing away, instead I will let the photos speak for themselves. We were fortunate enough to have some people help out, all credits listed below. Enjoy!

Hey everyone, how much are you all LOVING this cold streak we are having?? I am really thankful that the cold weather held off until November, but my goodness it really does have a bite! As long as we are all freezing our buns of we may as well have fun getting ready for Christmas!
One fantastic thing you can do is check out All The Pretty Things Market next weekend. Not only will you be able to get some Christmas shopping done (or possibly some presents for yourself? haha) you will be supporting local vendors and some really talented Red Deer people! There is a Soiree on the Saturday night that is SOLD OUT, but stay tuned on our facebook page as we still have FOUR tickets that we will be giving away over the next several days! You can also come Sunday from 9:30am – 3:30pm at Festival Hall. Travis and I are going to be there with tons of pretty things – wreaths, outdoor urns, Dr. Seuss trees, centrepieces as well as tickets to our class!
That’s right my friends it is time for our second annual wreath class! Travis and I both had SO much fun last year doing the wreath classes. I am slightly biased, but I really do think these classes are awesome. I personally love getting to share my passion for flowers with other people and see them getting to learn how to make something beautiful, it is a good time, especially if you bring your mom or a few gal pals and I can GUARANTEE that you will feel more in the Christmas spirit after doing this class. I can also guarantee you will be covered in glitter, which is a secret to getting in the holiday spirit along with singing loud for all to hear.
We will be hosting the class at the Morrisroe Activity Centre (which is at 5 McIntosh Ave) on Dec 6th. There are two class times available, 10am and 1pm, we do have a size limit so don’t wait too long to get your ticket! We will bringing all the necessary product/tools (if you have something special from home that you would like to include you are more than welcome to bring it!) along with coffee, snacks and some cheesy smiles! You can register HERE or contact Travis at travis@calyxfloral design.ca
If you are unable to attend the wreath class, but would like to buy a beautiful wreath made from fresh winter greens for yourself, or a neighbour or your family don’t worry! We will have plenty to purchase that we can make in any colour combination you can dream up, just email Travis or drop us a line on our facebook page. we will also be taking custom orders for centrepieces and outdoor urns! And now, for your viewing pleasure some pictures from some of our winter work last year!
Happy Thursday everyone, I have exciting things to share! As I mentioned in our last post, upcoming events, we were at the fall With This Ring bridal gala that was this last Sunday. We got some pictures done of our booth and today we are sharing them. Along with all the pictures, we have a mini contest! After you are done looking through the photos, tell us what you loved most (ex. Backdrop, a certain bouquet, the floral table runner) on our Facebook page by Sunday at 7pm and you can win a succulent terrarium! The contest is limited to those living in or nearby Red Deer who would be able to pick up said prize.
Before I share these photos we do need to mention several awesome business:
– Special Event Rentals – they have beautiful event rentals and were the ones who supplied us with the cocktail tables, chairs and place settings, love them!
– High Style Rentals – charcoal sequin tablecloths, can you say stunning!?
– Your Wedding Place -these guys always have such gorgeous dresses and they generously let us use Tina Wilson as our model decked out in one of their amazing dresses!
– last, but certainly not least Lindsay Nickel Photography – a lot of work goes into having our booth done for the gala and Lindsay did SUCH a wonderful job capturing it for us so that we can share photos with you all today! Take a moment to check out her website and like her Facebook page!
Hope you guys love the photos as much as I do! Don’t forget to comment on which floral piece is your fav!
It has been a very busy summer for me and Travis – I made a baby, she did over 100 weddings (you read that right, over 100!!!) and also moved from Blackfalds into Red Deer! We finally got together recently to talk about some upcoming events that we are involved in and I am so excited I had to share.
With This Ring Bridal Gala
As I am sure you all know, the fall gala is coming up quick – Sunday, September 28th in fact. Sadly I am out of town and can’t make this one, but Travis was filling me in on what she has planned and it sounds AMAZING!! I would love to go into detail, but you really have to see it for yourself. In case you don’t recall we were honoured with best booth design at the spring gala (see HERE) and I am quite certain this booth will be just as fabulous! You can buy your tickets in advance for $10 or for $15 at the door. For more info on the other vendors attending, fashion show times etc. check out their website HERE.
All The Pretty Things Market
This such a fun market to check out, we wanted to participate in their last one but things just didn’t pan out. This time we will for sure attending as a vendor and cannot wait! We will be there along with other super awesome local businesses like Scratch – Homemade Cakes and Treats, Funktional Designs, and art by Lauren Cowles. While at the show we will have Christmas wreaths, tickets for our upcoming winter classes, gorgeous outdoor urns and centrepieces for sale. It should be super fun to check out, they have a soirée on Nov 22 from 5:30-9:30, tickets go on sale Oct 3 for $10 and the market will be the next day from 9:30-5:30 at Festival Hall. To check out some of the other vendors and get more info check out their Facebook Page.
We really did have such a blast last year teaching the wreath making classes and cant wait to do it again this year! In addition to our wreath making class we are also adding on a centrepiece making class! You will be provided with all the product and tools needed, will learn how to properly assemble a lovely Christmas wreath and/or centrepiece, and you will have tons of fun. They make for lovely Christmas gifts, or you can just keep them for yourself. We will have some extras for sale in case you want to take home more than one. I think the best thing about the classes is they really are a fantastic opportunity to get together with your mom or girlfriends and have a great time. Plus, it will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit! We still are in the process of planning this so we will share more in the future, but for the time being we are planning for Saturday, December 6th – mark it on your calendar!
We always love to get involved in events like these because we get the opportunity to let our creative juices flowing and really play! I hope you guys are just as excited for these dates and look forward to seeing you at one (or all!).
